About this Site
Questions about this website.
What is this site about?
This site has no mission or agenda other than to provide useful and interesting information on Plurality in an accessible format.
Who is this site written for?
The information on Silhouettes is intended to be accessible and useful to those with only limited knowledge of Plurality. We offer detailed information as well as just-the-basics insights, glossaries, and answered Plural questions. Similarly, this site is intended to be a useful resource for people of any Plural background or none at all. Its goal is to enable you to learn more about your own Plurality, compare it with others, or just satisfy your curiosity about some aspect of Plurality in general.
Who maintains this website?
This site is run by the Silhouettes group; specifically Jenilee, Kalli, LeAnne, Suz, and Amirah. The Silhouettes group has been Plural since birth, with many years of experience among themselves and within the Plural community as a whole.
How long have you had a Plural website?
13 years, as of 2016. In 2002, Suz and Kasia first began discussing early aspects of Plurality online in Kasia Whisper, a Delphi forum they ran. The official Plural website, Kasiya, was opened in 2003. It ran for 7 years until 2010. This current website was created in 2012.
Ever have other websites?
Yes. There have been other un-Plural related sites since 1995.
Why do you want to maintain a Plural site when there are so many already?
It feels good to have our own voices added to the chorus of voices out there. We believe that every system and group is different from each other. We would love to share our differences and similarities with whomever is interested in discovering them.
What are the trigger warnings for your site?
There aren't many trigger warnings on this site. This site won't discuss anything violent in graphic detail, or give in-depth information about anything sexual. There are a multitude of Plural-related topics discussed here, so please read at your own risk.
Are all the articles and information on this site original?
There are other Plural groups who may experience their Plurality in a similar way we do, so they may have similar general information. Some questions in the Plural Info section were inspired from online surveys and questions asked in various public locations. What is original about our site, is the fact it is written from our personal viewpoints, experiences and opinions. However, as they are not professionally edited or peer reviewed, errors or poor writing often slip in.
How do I cite this website as a source?
In order to cite Silhouettes as a source for a school essay or project, please consult the writing style manual specified by your school (APA, MLA, etc.) regarding citation of Internet sources. For MLA, proper citation format would be something like this:
Kalli of Silhouettes or Anonymous. "Walk-ins Defined." Silhouettes. 30 April 2011. [date from the bottom left of the article] Accessed 8 December 2014 [date you accessed the article] <http://spicetea.weebly.com/walk-ins-defined.html>. We won't give you this body's full name, so we're anonymous in that sense.
What are the terms of use for information from Silhouettes website?
You may not reproduce any pages, articles, writings, or artwork on another website. You may, however, include excerpts with proper attribution and a link back to our site, and you are more than welcome to link to any page. We'd love it if you dropped us a message from the Contact page so we can visit your site as well.
