Memory Pool and Remembering Body History
Does anyone know how their memory pool place was formed? Is it like an astral memory place you can tap your minds into?
I've noticed people in other groups saying that they have a hard time remembering things they've done in their other worlds, realms, homes; if they have one, when they're not in the body. They say it's hard for them to bring these memories forward when they return to the body.
I've also heard some Groups have a shared memory pool. When someone gets into the body, they are all able to jump into this pool and retrieve memories from the body's history.
It's sorta the opposite for us. It's easier for us to remember events at home in our Realm. We don't have a shared memory pool. I think we used to have one, but it might've been all the current Fronters covering each other's butts with telling each their own memories.
I've asked some of the newer Fronters who live usually back home if they can remember events from a few years ago. They have no clue unless someone told them about it. This is while they're sharing the body with me that I've asked them.
If one of us are trying to relate body history that isn't very recent and they haven't actually lived through it in the body, it becomes a second or third hand account. It's like the telling has been retold to them from someone else who was also told about it.
I noticed this recently while talking to someone about California. In our body's history we lived in California from late 1997 to early 2001. I wasn't around for any of that. I didn't come back to the Group until like 2003. I know the basic things like we lived in a nice place on base and there was a garden in the back yard and college classes. Stuff like that. I can list the basic things that happened, but if I was asked for more details about it, I wouldn't really be able to. Because I wasn't there.
I've heard Kalli and Henna talk a lot about California. Kalli took astronomy classes at the college and she went to star parties with her telescope. The garden was Henna's garden and she grew lemon cucumbers, snow peas, and tomatoes. I've seen pictures of these things so I could maybe fudge it. It just feels strange to talk like I've done something that I really haven't. I mean I've shared this body with Kalli while she's talked about these events, so sometimes it feels like the words are coming from my mouth; if we're actually sharing Front at the same time. Sometimes I don't like to think about it too much, because it's weird.
My own strongest memories are the ones I actually took part in. I fronted during the body's teen years, so those are my strongest memories because they are mine. Sukey and other Cliquers Fronted too then. But even though we were all together, we still have our own viewpoints on what happened, so sometimes making a single body history line can be hard even then. We do try to keep the body history written out somewhere with a lot of dates and places listed in case someone needs a refresher on what happened in the costume's past.
Now, we have a memo system that includes important body-history information that sits near the Front. It is symbolically like a Wiki site on a laptop that Fronters can pick up and access.
