Identity & Gender - How identity and gender work for us
* To me, an identity crisis would be a situation where someone just does not know who they are. If they ask themselves: 'who am I?' or 'what is my name?' they have no answer, I'd say that's an identity crisis. That is different (in my opinion) than being a group because a singlet or a group-mate could both have an identity crisis. Being more than one does not mean a person doesn't know who they are. Sure, someone in their group may not know who they are, but that doesn't make them a group. Just confused. Being a group means there is more than one person present within a single body.
* When looking in the mirror, sometimes there is an overlay of personal identity over the body's appearance.
* This body's legal name doesn't belong to anyone else here. Several of us have had to take on that name over the years. It doesn't mean we suddenly become this identity just because we pretend out in public.
* Many group members are from planets other than Earth.
* It would be nice if each group member could look like themselves while in the body.
* We don't role play online. We are ourselves away from the body, and have no need to use this body in order to show who we are. They either are themselves (around people we trust) or they aren't.
* Children enjoy having a larger body to reach items. Teens enjoy having an older body in case they wanted to buy alcohol. A winged individual may roll over in bed as though their wings were here. Another with rather large wings that aren't present with this body, may find they need to walk differently to compensate for their absence. It's different for everyone.
* This body is female and it isn't able to switch gender when a male comes here. This body is obviously female. We can perhaps get away with being a teenage boy if we wear a baseball cap and tomboyish clothing. But that's really stretching things. Those are the main reasons for us. But we don't hate this body. It's generally healthy. Some individuals in other groups may dislike their physical body because they aren't able to fit in comfortably with a gender that is opposite than their personal gender.
* It isn't considered pressure to behave as the body. We choose to do so when we're in public.
* Our clothing style is generally similar because we only have so many clothes in the closet. We usually prefer jeans and sneakers. The differences are with the style and color of the shirts. Some prefer black and dark colors, some like to wear grey or red, some prefer blue or pink.
* It can be considered normal to have trouble with pronoun use. Especially when there are several around who want to use their own particular pronoun. When I refer to myself, I use I or she. When I refer to an event someone else took part in, yet I'm speaking about it, I will use we or us.
* There are some species in our Realm who are of another gender other than male or female, and also some who are more than one gender simultaneously. They will use their own terminology.
* To compensate for not having their own bodies, several try to match their voice, or find clothing that appeals to them. It also helps for them to remember that this body is only a temporary costume and they can return to their own bodies whenever they wish.
